JOIN US FOR FAMILY MERIDIAN'S

FAMILY INSTITUTE

JULY 17-19, 2019 | DENVER, CO

Join other wealthy families and single-family offices from North America as we gather to learn more about creating a successful family legacy.

True stories of transformation will provide inspiration and hope. While families experiencing both the good and the bad of financial blessing will share their candid accounts as well – breaking the silence that surrounds problems of wealth. Within this safe environment, you will learn alongside and from each other as you make friends with people like you.

Our discussion will be grounded by practical, biblical wisdom and free from cookie-cutter solutions. Together, we will seek a clearer vision of how God can shape your family legacy.

SCHEDULE

Subject to change (but trust us, we've got a killer lineup)

Day 1 – Wednesday, July 17

Stop by the registration table to pick up your name tag and registration materials, which may or may not include: a fridge magnet of our beloved founder’s face, a seasonal sampling of the DeKruyter “nasty plaid pants” clothing line and a limited edition package of Clemens family choice double-smoked extra-thick banana sriracha jowl bacon.

Todd DeKruyter, President & Chief Whimsy Officer of Family Meridian, will lay a foundation for our time together to kick off the conference. We will have introductions and interactive time so you can get to know who’s who in the room.

Hear from Phil Clemens, third generation of the Clemens family. The sixth generation is now entering the family business, which just doubled revenue in the last few years. Phil has a heart for family unity, generosity and a lot of wisdom to share.

Connect with other attendees while enjoying tasty, outrageously awesome, treats and coffee.

Bob and Leslie Doll are our keynotes after dinner. Bob is in rarified air for outperforming investment benchmarks in his day job as Chief Equity Strategist of Nuveen Investments. Leslie has been known to wear bulletproof vests on her frequent visits to the Middle East. Their story of generosity and unique family legacy will make you forget how awesome the food is.

If regular desserts had dreams of what they wanted to be when they grew up, they would dream of being one of the desserts we will be sharing.

Day 2 – Thursday, July 18

Start your day off well with a hearty breakfast. (It probably won’t be as tasty as dessert last night, but remember what your mom said about breakfast being the most important meal of the day – blah, blah, blah). Come and go as you please.

We will officially begin our day with morning devotions; the speaker will be announced soon.

Lonnie and Shelley Geinger have your morning covered. Lonnie is a serial entrepreneur and author of “Beyond Business: How Your Company Can Build a Better World”. His primary business focus is leading the 360 Impact Fund, transforming apartments into centers for human flourishing. Shelley is an RN with a health coaching practice that helps people solve unsolvable health challenges. They will share how their family took a unique journey to develop their passion for family vision, mission and values.

Drink coffee, stretch your legs and enjoy a performance by Todd. Please vote for your favored entertainment style: 1) Sword swallowing, 2) Todd’s dynamic routine from his college cheerleading days, or 3) the U of M fight song on the bagpipes (if this is your preference, please let us know in a timely manner as Todd should probably start practicing for that one now).

Work together in small groups to decide how you would help a specific family. This practical session will dive into best practices on specific family issues. Speakers to be announced soon. All three breakout sessions will be run twice.

Enjoy lunch and connect with peers. Or feel free to grab lunch quickly and enjoy some free time before the afternoon sessions kick off.

Keeping with the style of Harvard Business School’s Interactive Case Study, we will learn and apply together in a fun interactive way.

It will be epic… or it might be normal.

Can you handle the suspense?

Day 3 – Friday, July 19

Day three begins much like day two – with food.

We will officially begin our day with morning devotions; the speaker will be announced soon.

Speaking on the Power of Reconciliation, trained mediator, Glenn Waddell will show how forgiveness and confession are instrumental and necessary components for effective family health. Glenn will share stories and useful advice on how to bring these two powerful tools into your family.

John 10 says the sheep hear the voice of the Good Shepherd. After two days of challenge and story, we want to give you the gift of silence. This time is geared towards listening for God’s voice and hearing what he would have us do.

Family Meridian president Todd DeKruyter will deftly tie together all lose ends, answers all unanswered questions from this conference, and then land this plane with time to spare. (But seriously, we will end on time)

In the dramatic voice of a mid-90s Mel Gibson struggling against the British: FREEDOM!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dark jeans and a sport coat is totally fine. No need for a tie unless that’s your style.

Car rental is available from Denver International Airport. It takes roughly 40 minutes to drive from there to the Four Seasons in downtown Denver. However, once you’re at the Four Seasons, you won’t need transportation for anything we’ll be doing at the Family Institute.

Like all of our events, it’s our goal to make this a safe space for families; we promise that you will not be pitched to by a vendor – ever. This gathering is for peers. That means the other people attending are high-capacity families and single family offices and only those advisors they choose to invite.

Our friend Daryle Doden says that he feels like an elephant and everyone’s after his tusks. We want this event to be a safe space for elephants, which means it is an environment free from elephant hunters. So, we will leave their admittance in your hands. We will not be recording our event or admitting any professionals – unless they have been invited to speak or you expressly invite them.
